Greetings CIX-ATL and FL-IX Members,
The route server sessions have been stable.
To keep you up to date, we performed an emergency maintenance at CIX-ATL to upgrade our portal software to the latest maintenance release, as well as BIRD, the route server software we use. We only upgraded one route server so far so that we can attempt to confirm this issue has been resolved.
The next step is to duplicate this effort at FL-IX. Once we have a confirmed time and date, we will send notice to the FL-IX mailing list. It should be within the next few days.
Thank you for your understanding and if you have any comments or concerns, please send them to noc@communityix.org.
Regards,
Randy Epstein

Subject: Reoccurrence of malformed attribute on route servers again, this time v4, and recommendation for members running Juniper routers
Hello CIX-ATL and FL-IX Members,
We are experiencing the same issue as we did last night, but this time on v4. This seems to only affect members with Juniper routers, running certain versions of JunOS.
It is recommended that members take a look at this document and ensure you have BGP error handling set up as per the recommendation? https://www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/cli-reference/topics/ref/statement/bgp-error-tolerance.html.
As our CIX-ATL members are aware, we are in the middle of portal and BIRD upgrades under an emergency maintenance window at this time. We believe this will stop BIRD from propagating this malformed attribute.
We are in the middle of mitigating the current situation and will let you know when this has been resolved.
Regards,
Randy Epstein
