Hello FL-IX Members,

We have successfully completed the conversion to IXP Manager version 5 and the new route servers.

As of now, one of two route servers is dropping RPKI invalids.  On Monday, 30 September 2019, we will also drop invalids on the second route server.

No action is required on your part.

However, if you want to see whether you are sending any routes that will be dropped by RPKI, you can do this by clicking on "Filtered Prefixes" in the portal, which is at https://my.fl-ix.net  This can help you identify BGP misconfigurations, and if you are announcing RPKI-signed address space, this can help you identify issues with the announcements (such as prefix length exceeding the ROA-specified max length).  If you want to learn how to use RPKI to protect your address space, you can read more here: https://www.arin.net/resources/manage/rpki/

Last, if you encounter a message to the effect of "'/ixp' path not found" when attempting to access the portal, you can resolve this by clearing your browser's cache.

Thanks,

Hello FL-IX Members,

On Friday, 20 September 2019, between 10am and 2pm, we will change the portal, at https://my.fl-ix.net , from IXP Manager v3 to v5.  We will also change the two route servers to new virtual machines, fed by the new IXP Manager.

All user data and statistics have been migrated, and you can expect to access the portal substantially as you do today.

If you peer with the route servers, you should expect the sessions to each to drop and recover, one a a time, during the window.

Because each route server carriers the same routes, there will be no disruption of route server functionality, and no disruption to the IX fabric is expected.  We ask that you please do not disable any sessions ahead of the maintenance.

A notification will be sent when the maintenance is completed.

If you have any questions, please contact noc@fl-ix.net
